身为打工人,处于一个公司的什么层级最难受呢?不少人认为,处于底层是最难受的。因为层级低,没有什么权力风光,只有领导让做什么就做的份。但其实处于公司中层才是最难受的,对上要交业绩成果,要争取团队和自己的利益。对下要做好保护安抚,培养新员工,维护工作环境,尽量让大家在开心愉快的情绪中完成工作。

 

如果只向下不向上管理,手下员工会开心,但得不到上级的赏识,没有晋升空间。如果只向上不向下,得不到手下员工的拥护,没有群众基础,也很难走远。

在今天的音频中,Stuart向人力资源部抱怨了对领导Elizabeth工作方式的不满,让他对自己的职业发展有些担忧。人力资源部的Aileen便找到Elizabeth谈话,看看两人之间有什么误会,是否需要人力资源部出面调节。

 

Aileen委婉地问两人之间发生了什么使用:Is there something we need to know?有什么我们不知道的情况吗?

 

Elizabeth说Stuart表现使用:He's made a lot of progress in the last six months. 过去六个月中,他取得了很大进步。

AILEEN: We've been told one of your staff has concerns about the professional development and your management skills. Is there something we need to know or anything we can help to explain?

AILEEN: 我们得知你的一位员工对职业发展和你的管理方式有些误解,有什么我们不知道的情况,或者需要我们帮忙解释的信息吗?

 

ELIZABETH: Professional development?

ELIZABETH: 职业发展?

 

AILEEN: Yes, I guess you can have a meeting about this to make sure everyone has clear idea.

AILEEN: 对,我觉得要不你开个会和员工们把这点再讲清楚些。

 

ELIZABETH: What Stuart needs now is hands-on experience, doing his job, learning from his mistakes

ELIZABETH: Stuart现在需要的是实践经验,从工作犯的错误中吸取教训。

 

AILEEN: Er... You knew it's him. So, you should've known the situation. He is a good person. He can be a good employee.

AILEEN: 呃......你知道是他,所以你应该是知道这个情况的。他人很好,也会成为一个好员工的。

 

ELIZABETH: He's made a lot of progress in the last six months, probably more than any other of our employees, but he's also more curious.

ELIZABETH: 过去六个月中,他取得了很大进步,可能是所有员工中进步最大的,但他仍然保持好奇心。

 

AILEEN: Curiosity is not a bad thing. It makes people explore.

AILEEN: 有好奇心不是坏事,它让人更深入的探索。

 

ELIZABETH: Too curious.

ELIZABETH: 太好奇了。

 

AILEEN: Ah, that's the problem. OK.

AILEEN: 啊,原来这才是问题根源。好吧。

 

ELIZABETH: He keeps looking into my Linderman project and I don't want him involved, period.

ELIZABETH: 他一直在研究我的Linderman项目,我不希望他涉入其中,就这样。

 

AILEEN: I see. Linderman project is one of the most important projects this year. He shouldn't know too much about the plan. Just tell him his level is not high enough to know the whole picture.

AILEEN: 我知道了。Linderman项目是今年公司最重要的项目之一。他不应该知道那么多,就直接告诉他,以他的级别,还无权知道那么多信息。
